UPDATE AUG 23:

We are moved in and getting all of our new equipment up and operational. The control rooms are taking shape and some of the final installs are being completed. We are now using our new systems to run our station, including our Omenon server, our Sundance automation system, just to mention a few. In the coming weeks we will be finishing up our studios and cleaning up our signal with a new microwave delivery system to our transmitter. Also check back for a video tour of our new building.

Changes are continuing at WIWU to provide our community with better programming as well as creating a professional lab environment for students. As we celebrate 15 years of service to Grant County TV51 is moving into a brand new state of the art facility on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan. Our new building will allow us to increase the quantity and quality of our local programing. The new building will also house the Communications Department as WIWU continues to partner with academics to give students real life experiences. We are increasing the size of our facilities by a factor of 10. In the coming months we will be giving our viewers a glimpse of our new facility through this web-page as well as video features.

Our facility will house 2 TV studios, editing suites, control rooms, a tech core, as well as new offices. The station will also feature an all new digital environment. All of our equipment, every room, and both studios will be serial digital throughout.  Our small studio will be equipped with Hitachi Z2500 digital studio cameras controlled by a Ross Synergy digital switcher.  Our large studio will house Hitachi Z4000W widescreen digital studio cameras controlled by a Ross Synergy 2 digital switcher.  Graphics for both studios, nonlinear editing and some remote productions will feature amazing visuals from VizRT.  VizRT has partnered with WIWU to provide identical systems that have recently been used for the NFL Superbowl, NCAA Men’s Basketball, ESPN Sports, CBS Sports, and the list goes on.  All of the video and audio signals will be handled by a 72 channel Ross Serial Digital routing system and conversion gear.  Our automation will be from one of the very top companies in the business, Sundance Digital.  This automation will be paired with an on-air video playback server from Omneon that allows us to record up to 7 channels of serial digital video and also playback up to 7 channels of video all at the same time.  This will provide the main program video for WIWU and also provide for video playback to each studio, classrooms, etc.  Student and staff video editing will share a new video editing server from Editshare that allows for 5 terabytes of video storage.  In addition to our new multi-million dollar home, WIWU will also be moving our transmitter to our brand new tower location.  At this time we will have all new transmitter cabling and antennas, including upgrading our studio-to-transmitter link with a digital microwave system that will provide a perfect signal quality link to our new transmitter.
